Upcoming changes to raids

1. Karazhan and heroics are way harder than normal 5-mans; you need lots of consumables.
2. Gear improvements are too marginal.
3. Keying is too difficult, so if you lose a member, keying a new one is a pain.
4. Most of the 25-man content is not doable by "normal" guilds (i.e. those of us who are not Death and Taxes).
5. There is a lack of healers.
6. There's no reason to have anything but a Warrior MT now.

Tigole delurked to respond to these. For those who don't know, Tigole is the screen name of Jeff Kaplan, WoW's lead designer for world design, which includes raids. His responses in full are after the cut.

1. [on consumables] We're discussing various solutions to issues with consumables. We're aware of the issue and agree that it is an issue. With that said, I don't really think Karazhan is overly difficult and requires massive amounts of consumables.
2. [on gear] We're taking another look at the raiding gear. I'd agree with your statement.
3. [on keying] I partially agree and partially disagree. We have some ideas that will help people "catch up" who join the endgame later on. With that said, I'm not so sure endgame players would like the face of the game if everyone had instant access to all of the content. There is something to be said for progression and the sense of accomplishment. Don't get me wrong, we have to be careful not to create a brick wall for new people, but I think there is a balance to be struck here.
4. [on 25-mans being too hard] I agree. As I have already stated on these forums, Magtheridon is proving more difficult than intended. We are planning on toning him down. We've made some minor fixes to Gruul as well but I think that encounter needs to be toned down too. Gruul and Mag should feel like Onyxia did 6 months into vanilla WoW. I don't really agree with points 5 and 6 but I do feel like your previous points all had merit. Hopefully, the changes I mentioned will alleviate some of your worries.

Melee Clevage... err.. cleave changes.
Source : http://forums.wow-europe.com/thread.html?topicId=191879314&sid=1

We're going to be doing a tuning pass on our dungeon and raid content to make sure that the point blank damage that Melee dps is taking (in particular rogues) isn't overly harsh.

For example, we'll be changing many monster cleaves to be a directional, 180 degree cone attack, rather than a 360 degree chain melee attack.

Expect these changes in a future patch. More details to come.

Patch 2.0.10 coming soon
Lots of undocumented item nerfs/boosts: link

Across the board reductions for druids, including:
  • Dire bear form armor bonus reduced from 450% to 400%
  • Base damage multiplier for mangle (bear) reduced from 130% to 100%
  • Predatory Instincts talent changed from +3/6/9/12/15% crit damage bonus to a +2/4/6/8/10% crit damage bonus
  • Improved Leader of the Pack can no longer crit
  • A buff to moonkin, with moonkin form's armor bonus changed from +360% to +400%

A couple of shadow priest nerfs, including:
  • Reduction of Vampiric Embrace's healing from 20% to 15%
  • Vampiric Embrace can no longer crit
  • The threat reduction talent Silent Resolve no longer affects shadow spells
  • Not a shadow priest? No worries: Prayer of Mending now has a 20 second cooldown

Some interesting shaman changes, including:
  • The clearcasting effect from Elemental Focus now procs on all (yes, all!) spell critical strikes
  • An Unleashed Rage proc will no longer generate additional threat
  • The free lightning spell cast from Lightning Overlord will now cause reduced threat
  • Stoneclaw totem now has a 50% chance to stun attackers for 3 seconds when struck

A handful of interesting warrior changes, including:
  • An approximate +1% critical strike chance overall
  • Thunderclap now usable in defensive stance and causes additional threat
  • The cooldown on Victory Rush has been removed
  • Unbridled Wrath now has a fixed chance to generate rage (higher with slower weapons)
  • Charge, Intercept, and Intervene will remove all snare effects (this isn't in the patch notes, but was confirmed by Tseric in the warrior forums)

Other changes:
  • The warlock talent Demonic Tactics now grants the warlock and pet with increased critical strike chance instead of increased damage (no numbers given)
  • Rage changes should grant an overall 15% to 20% increase in rage generation for warriors and bear druids

Also: The threat generated from the spell effect on "Thunderfury" has been substantially reduced.

Patch 2.0.7 today
Important! The Karazhan key fragments can no longer be obtained by having a player summoned in after the instance has been completed. Same goes for the Black Morass event.

General

* The amount of haste granted by a point of haste rating has been increased by about 50%.
* 20 slot bags are now bind on equip.
* Any effect which benefits the victim of a critical strike will now trigger even if resilience converted the attack from a critical strike to a normal strike; this applies to melee, ranged, and spell. The affected talents, abilities, and items are: "Eye for an Eye", "Blessed Resilience", "Enrage", "Martyrdom", "Blood Craze", "Eye of the Storm", and "Bonespike Shoulder".
* The Crust Bruster has had a loot icon and sound change.
* Players can no longer send gift wrapped packages via COD.
* When sharing a quest, the order logic has changed to check whether or not the player has completed or is ineligible for the quest before checking whether their quest log is full.

PvP

* Battlegrounds
o If Primalist Thurloga is attacked and pulled off her pathing on the way to summon Lokholar the Ice Lord, she will now properly path back to the summoning ring to complete the event.
o PVP flags and graveyard nodes can no longer be captured through collision.

Raids and Dungeons

* Players are no longer able to accept the quest "The Opening of the Dark Portal" while the Black Morass encounter is engaged.
* In the Black Morass, Chrono Lord Deja will now properly spawn during a Heroic Mode attempt.
* After completing the Black Morass encounter, all the additional mobs in the zone will no longer all aggro.
* Durnholde Lookouts will now properly despawn after all 5 of the Baracks in Caverns of Time: Escape from Durnholde are burned down.
* The items required to complete the Karazhan key quest can now only be looted by the first group in the instance to reach them.
* Berthold the Doorman will now have a gossip option to teleport players to the Shade of Aran's room. This gossip option only becomes available when players have defeated the Shade of Aran.
* The aggro range for players when under the effect of "Incite Chaos" while fighting Blackheart the Inciter in the Shadow Labrynth has been adjusted.
* Many creatures within Coilfang Resevoir have been slightly retuned.
* Many creatures within the Mana Tombs have been slightly retuned.

Mac

* Stability improvements in Multi-Threaded OpenGL support on future OS X releases.

Bug Fixes

*
* The talent "Combat Potency" no longer causes rogues to have a chance to gain energy when other players hit them with off-hand attacks.
* Players with multiple chat windows will no longer have fixed channels (ie. general, trade) added back to the main chat window every time they log on.
* Attempting to prospect less than 5 pieces of ore will no longer cause a game crash. (Spanish Only)
* The Fel Reaver for "It's A Fel Reaver, But With Heart" quest will now respawn properly if you wipe on the quest.
* Fixed a crash that could occur when on a flight path.
* Fixed the local defense channel so that it will properly change based on the player's zone.
